This set of five shell and bone nose pieces (bubu siane) come from the Massim area and were collected by the late field collector Lynda Cunningham in the 1960s/early 1970s. This is a nice array of sizes and shapes with all but the dark brown one being made from yellow/orange section near the hinge of a giant tridacna clamshell. The brown one is a bone of some sort. These range in size from 4 ½” (10.9 cm) to 8” (20.1 cm) in length and are displayed on a single custom stand. They date to the early 20th century or before and sell as a set for $1700. Questions?
