Here is a superb pre-contact, stone-carved Papuan Gulf shoulder shield from the Elema culture. Smaller in size than many this example is ancient and has a bold and striking spirit face on the front. The shield is ex. Stanley G. Moriarty, Australia (M323) and ex. Anthony Meyer—Meyer published this in his “Images of Man in Western Melanesia” catalog from 1993. The shield dates to the 19th century, is 19” (48.2 cm) in height and the price is available upon request. Questions?
