I field collected this old Huon Gulf betel mortar many years ago in a remote village high up the slopes of the volcanic Umboi Island. I sold it early on in Santa Fe only just last month was reunited with it. It is classic in style, nice robust female figure, large head set low on the chest, pleasant expression and extensive signs of field use. The mortar dates to the early 20th century, is 6 ¼” (15.9 cm) in height and sells for $2800. Questions?
