Here is a fine old ancestral spirit figure from the Lower Sepik River area of Papua New Guinea. It has the classic form of an overly large head set low over the shoulders, extensive body scarification, pierced ears and nose, remains of traditional pigments and lengths of string decoration still intact. Notice the articulated form on the backside with defined shoulders and rather blocky (old style) hips. The figure is pre-1930, is surprisingly large at 24 ¼” (62.2 cm) in height. The price is available upon request. Questions?
