Oceanic Art - Image Enlargement

This is a fine and classic ancestral mask from the Lower Ramu River area. Such masks are invariably painted red and attached to a tall cane superstructure that rests upon the dancer's shoulders. This one shows good age and use as evidenced by the numerous holes around the perimeter and the dark glossy patina on the reverse. The piece is 13" in height, comes with a custom display mount. sold
