This woven yam mask comes from the Southern Abelam area known as the Wosera. Yam masks such as this adorned ritually-grown long yams at times of public display and exchange. The present example is unusual for the curled crest with cassowary feathers that juts out from the mask's forehead. The piece is 20 ½" in height, comes mounted on a custom display stand. sold
