This is a very rare Ovula shell dance ornament from Taututu Village in Oro Province, Papua New Guinea. This was gripped in the hand will dancing. Locally this was called "deri deri" in the Binandere language group. It is finely constructed, has good age, dates to the early 20th century, is 17 ¾" (45 cm) in height. sold
