This has to be one of the oldest churingas I have ever owned. This is a fragment of an ancient Western Australian board that was carved from a very hard, very dense wood. The design is very fine and the layers of red ochre cover both the design and the eroded areas—indicating a long ceremonial life even after its erosion. The piece is 19th century or older, is 31 ¾" (81.7 cm) in height and sells for $3400.. Questions?
