This is one of my all-time favorite pieces. It is a pre-contact, stone-carved Boiken culture spear-thrower with a great central wooden section carved with the female sex motif. I find this design associated with creation an intriguing one to be used on an instrument of death. The spear-thrower is both beautifully carved and ancient with a thick encrusted patina. It is for sure 19th century, is 27 7/8" (70.7 cm) in length, and comes from the John and Marcia Friede Collection. sold
