Oceanic Art - Personal Decoration Enlargement

This pearl shell with incised decoration is a "lonkalonka" pubic cover coming from the desert area around Kimberly in Western Australia. This one is rare and significant for having the thick ropes of human hair still intact. Also notice the bridge motif connecting one curved design to the one below it. The shell is 6" in length and overall with the hair strap the piece is 19 ½" tall-the piece comes mounted on a custom display stand. sold
