Oceanic Art - Miscellaneous Enlargement

This large and expressive piece is a "yena" sculpture from the Kwoma people living to the north of the Sepik River. Yena was the first ceremony in a set of three that promoted the continued growth of yams. This yena shows substantial age and has the classic phallic nose (pierced of course). Please note the wonderful heart-shaped mouth carved in high relief. The piece is large at 73" comes mounted on a custom display stand. sold
