Oceanic Art - Personal Decoration Enlargement
This piece is a pearl shell pubic cover from the Kimberly area of Western Australia. Locally known as "jakoli" or "lonkalonka" these were worn by men for certain ceremonies. It has the classic, early interlocking key design in-filled with red pigments. This jakoli also has some carved motifs on the reverse. The piece is 6" in height, comes mounted on a custom display stand and sells for $1400. Questions?
