Oceanic Art - Image Enlargement

This old and large Abelam figure is of a male and female copulating couple. While probably not stone-carved this figure has all the attributes of the ancient Abelam style. It is made from a dense hardwood and the limbs are carved free from the body and jut back in a series of undulating curves that compliment the rounded volumes of the figures' front. There are traces of both traditional and western pigments. The piece stands 113" tall, is mounted on a custom display stand, and the price is available upon request. Questions?
