This ancient and archaic piece comes from the caves above the headwaters of the Karawari River in New Guinea. The piece is pre-contact and stone-carved. Such pieces represented spirits helpful in hunting and warfare. Please note the row of ancient holes dug out alongside on the trailing edge of the face.
