Oceanic Art - Miscellaneous Enlargement

This wonderful female figure is a very old and rare suspension hook from the Southern Abelam area known as the Wosera("worse area" in pidgin because of the mosquitoes). This piece is carved from a dense hardwood and has several layers of both western and traditional pigments. The lug at the top is well-patinated from generations of traditional use. The figure has a pleasantly composed expression and a nice twist to the torso. The entire surface is old and glossy. The piece is 24" in height, comes with a custom display mount. sold
