Oceanic Art - Enlargement

This elegant boomerang comes from the Northern New South Wales coast of Australia. The noted Aboriginal art expert Arthur Palmer states that this boomerang would have been used for hunting-possibly to throw at a flock of ducks flying down a river course to chase them into waiting nets. He also dates the piece to no later than 1880. The boomerang is large at 25 ΒΌ" tip to tip, comes mounted on a custom display stand. sold
