This unusual object is a balsa wood dance ornament from the Sawos culture of the Sepik Plains area. Such pieces were part of a larger dance costume and would have had feathers stuck in the edge around the object’s perimeter. This piece is quite old, has nice remains of pigments, is 8 ¾" in diameter. sold
