This striking piece is a balsa wood headdress from the Southern Abelam area known as the Wosera. Such headdresses were worn by men and were called "notu" locally. This one is an excellent older example with an unusual feature of having the ancestral face carved in relief on the front. The headdress has nice remains of bright pigments, an old worn handle, is 24 ½" in height. sold
