This is a very fine and old shell archer's armband from the Papuan Gulf. It is composed of cut sections of the conus shell tied together with bush string and is decorated with white, blue and black beads. The individual sections of shell are very old and worn with a creamy surface. This is the only example I have seen with the decorative beads. It is 8 ¾" in length, dates to the early 20th century. sold
