Oceanic Art - Image Enlargement
This is a classic older Lower Sepik River ancestral figure. It dates to around 1920 and was collected by Mark Lissauer in the early 1960s with his inventory number 21534 on a small paper tag. The figure was acquired by Leo Fortess in April 27th 1979. The piece is carved from a dense hardwood, has a pierced nasal septum and an aged brown patina overall. It stands 13 ¾" in height. sold
