Very rare old mask from Kairiru Island, Sepik Coastal area. The people who live on Kairiru are Boiken speakers and the mask with the nose coming straight out of the forehead is reminiscent of certain inland Boiken masks. The mask has beautiful remains of red and white pigments and a refined profile. One of the ears has the remains of fiber decoration attached. The holes around the perimeter are nice old square cut type. The mask is 14 ½" in height, dates to the 1920s. sold
