This is a set of seven fighting arrows from the Torricelli Mountains, West Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. Such elegant and decorated arrows were meant for man, not wild pigs, cuscus or birds. They consist of a carved hardwood section wedged into a length of thin bamboo. Two of the tips are carved sections of bamboo and one of the hardwood arrows is tipped with a sharpened length of marsupial bone. They range in size from 56" to 60" in length, date to the 1930s, have individual display mounts. sold
