This mask comes from the coastal area at the mouth of the Ramu River in Papua New Guinea. Such masks were lashed to tall cane superstructures that rested on the dancer's shoulders and towered several meters into the air. The mask has nice remains of pigments and good signs of extended traditional use. It is 19 ½" in height. sold
