This classic mask comes from the coastal area at the mouth of the Ramu River. It has the traditional curved nose and bulbous eyes found on most of the masks from this region. The mask would have been lashed to a tall cane superstructure that was worn on the shoulders of a stout young man. The piece shows good age and wear, dates to around 1930-40, is 18 ¾" in height. sold
