This unusual object comes from the Tiwi people of northern Australia. I have seen very few of these published but they are often referred to as throwing or fighting clubs. This example is quite beautiful, carved from a dense hardwood it has vertical grooving and nice remains of an ochre painted design. The piece is 19 ¾" in height. sold
