This is an ancient Abelam "bapa kumbu" helmet mask made with the coiled cane technique. The mask has an excellent expression and nice tuft of cassowary feathers sprouting out the top. You can see one ear is missing. The bapa is very, very old with a dark aged patina. The mask is 13" in height, is pre-1920. sold
