This striking mask comes from the coast northwest of the mouth of the Sepik River. It has the classic long curved nose and bright red (western) paint famous for the area. The mask has an aggressive serrated ridged forehead, piercing eyes and a slightly open mouth. Notice the small chunk missing from near the left side of its chin-this is an old break with the edges patinated over. The mask is 18" in height, dates to the 1930s. sold
