This wonderful bowl comes from Santa Cruz Island in the Solomon Islands. It has the classic frigate bird form with inlaid shell pieces and a shark suspended from the beak of the bird. The bowl was collected between 1915-1920 and has been in the Parnell family ever since. The lightwood bowl is missing a few of the shell inlays and, obviously, the tail of the shark. The piece is 28 ½" in length and sells for $7500.Questions?
