This is a very fine and powerful ancestral figure from either the mouth of the Sepik or Ramu River. While small in stature it has a monumental quality to its form. The head is overly large with a jutting chin. The nose is bulbous and deeply pierced. The arms are thin and attenuated and carved free from the torso. The buttocks protrudes prominently out back. The figure is 9 3/4 " in height, dates to the 1920s. sold
