This small and elegant woven billum bag comes from the Mountain-Ok culture of Papua New Guinea’s Central Range in the West Sepik Province. It is covered in the black cassowary feathers with tufts of small red feathers interspersed. The bag is filled with leaf material to give it shape and body while it hung on the person’s back while danced. The piece is 17" in height, dates to the early 20th century. sold
