This is a classic Lower Sepik River/Coastal Ramu River dance mask with orange pigments and shell eyes. The mask has great age as evidenced by the smooth back and the worn edges. There is a small bird figure on the forehead. The mask has a powerful expression formed by the severely tapered chin and slightly pursed mouth. The piece is 26 ½" in height, is pre-1930. sold
