Oceanic Art - Image Enlargement
This is a fine and old sago spathe painting from the façade of an Abelam ceremonial house collected by Dr. George Kennedy in the early 1960s. The panel consists of two sago spathes lashed together with a cane and bamboo backing. This piece was on long-term loan in the UCLA Museum of Cultural History (now the Fowler) from the mid 1960s to the mid 1980s. The panel is 67 ½" by 40", dates to the early/mid 20th century and sells for $3400. Questions?
