This Southwestern Abelam yam mask is unusual for the combination of a small wood face attached to a tightly woven cane headdress. All yam masks were attached to the long yam in such combinations with woven or wood headdress but it is rare to find them permanently made as such. This one is also an excellent example for the age, remains of pigments and the tightness of weave of the headdress. The yam mask is 12 ¾" in height, dates to the 1930s. sold
