This is a classic dance paddle from the Massim area of Papua New Guinea. Such pieces are called "kaidiba" locally and are held by men in choreographed dances. This example has a looser, more organic flow to the carving style than is normally found on the tightly controlled Massim aesthetic. The piece has a nice, worn, older patina, is 29 ½" in length. sold
