While this guy seems to have had his nose bent out of shape I think in reality it was once a longer nose that has just been broken off in an awkward fashion. The piece is a classic ancestor figure from the Murik Lakes area of New Guinea's coast just west of the mouth of the Sepik River. The figure shows substantial age and traces of red pigments.
