This is a very good Abelam coconut cup. Such cups were carried by Big Men in their string bags and used to drink the white coconut and yam soup served at most ceremonies. This example has a well executed design with multiple "mbia" or womb motifs. The surface is aged brown and glossy. The cup is 5 ¾" in diameter, dates to the 1920s and sells for $900. Questions?
