These three cassowary bone daggers are ancient and excellent examples from three different culture areas in Papua New Guinea. The left claw-type is from the Schouten Islands off New Guinea’s north coast. The middle dagger with the ancient honey-red patina is from the Yangoru Boiken culture to the east of the Abelam. The right dagger is a classic Abelam dagger with the face of the ancestral spirit, “nggwal’ or “father’s father’s man.” All three are at least early 20th century, range in size from 10 ½” to 12” in height. sold
