This ancient and unique drum comes from the remote Teptep area in the Finisterre Mountains on the border between Madang and Morobe Provinces. The drum is small with a large top and a diminutive bottom. Notably the skin tympanum is not monitor lizard but some mammal. The drum has a great aged glossy patina from generations of use. It is 15 ¼” in height and sells for $1400. Questions?
