These are two excellent examples of pre-contact, stone-carved wood bowls from the Torricelli Mountains of Papua New Guinea's West Sepik Province. Both of these were published in my "The Art of West Sepik" catalog on pages 20/21. The left example is rare for having the handle and is 18 ½" in height. The right one is deep with an elegant leaf shape and beautiful grain showing in the interior-it is 20" in height. Both bowls are late 19th/early 20th century. sold
