This old figure comes from the far eastern Abelam area near West Yangoru. You can see that it has lived a hard life with numerous past breaks and wear. However, due to the early and robust carving of this piece the powerful demeanor still comes through. The face is overly large with the nose and mouth carved in bold high relief. The remnants of red and yellow pigments remain strong. The piece is 63" in height and sells for $7000. Questions?
