I have been fortunate to own several very old drums from the Papuan Gulf and I must say that this could very well be the oldest. The wood is very dense, the carving is extremely deep and fine and there is a thick, black glossy patina from well over a 100 years of field use. Thus the drum is 19th century, probably from the Kerewa or Purari Delta areas, stands 24" in height. sold
