This is a fine and small "marupai" amulet charm from the Papuan Gulf area. These are considered magical and are made from small, oddly-shaped coconuts. Pieces of ritually charged bark are often kept in the mouth of these little creatures. The carving is very fine with remains of white lime in-filling. The piece has a chunk taken out of its backside, is 3 7/8" in height. sold
