This wood spoon comes from just inland of Kaup Lagoon, which is to the west of the mouth of the Sepik River. The end of the handle has a sweet zoomorphic face with its tongue sticking out. There are classic Sepik scroll motifs deeply carved and the surface is thickly encrusted. The spoon is 16 ¾" in length, dates to the 1920's. sold
