No, this is not just a broken tree branch from Papua New Guinea. This is a pre-contact, stone-carved ancestral figure from the caves north of the headwaters of the Karawari River. You can see the two classic Karawari -style faces nicely carved, notice they both have pierced nasal septums as well. The body of the figure has some deeply cut scroll motifs below the top ancestral face. The wood is very dense and the carving is at least 100 years old. The figure is 53" in height. sold
