This ancient piece is a pre-contact, stone-carved wood trumpet from the Sepik Plains area north of the Sepik River. Such horns were used to alert the home village of a successful raid on an enemy. This example has a black, glossy aged patina from generations of use. The piece is 23 ¼" in length. sold
