Oceanic Art - Image Enlargement
This old wood churinga from Australia's Western Desert area is truly one of the most elegant examples I have come across. This piece was collected in the 1920-30s by a regional pilot in either the Murchison or Nannie area in the north of Western Australia. The concentric circle design is classic but rendered with an archaic elegance found in only the very best examples of Aboriginal art. The board is 43 ½" in height, 19th century. sold
