This large and ancient hook figure is a pre-contact "garra" figure from the Hunstein Range near Gahom Village. Such figures represented ancestral spirits whose assistance was essential in hunting and warfare. This example is stone-carved, has substantial erosion but is still strong both structurally and aesthetically. The piece is carved from a dense hardwood, is 42" in height. sold
