This is a fine and old tapa cloth from Collingwood Bay in Oro Province, Papua New Guinea. While this area is known for mass-produced, somewhat schlocky, tapa cloth this one is an entirely different animal. It is a much older and has a more elegant and unusual design. The tapa material itself is thick and soft and could very well have been used as a blanket as is sometimes the case. The piece measures 56" by 48". sold
