This is a large and exceptional Southern Abelam "notu" lightwood headdress. It has an elegant overall form and very fine detailed open-work carving. The pigments are fairly strong. There is a thin crack coming down one side near the bottom. The notu is very large at 54 ½" in height, it dates to around 1940. sold
