This ancient piece is a stone-carved fragment from a Middle Sepik River ceremonial house post. With the post long gone this crocodile was removed and saved. The delicacy and fineness of the carving is still evident despite the substantial erosion. The piece is carved from a dense hardwood, is 29" in length and sells for $8000. Questions?
